CPAN has worked with partners Zambart, INESOR, IAPRI and the University of Denver to understand middle-income Zambia's persistently high level of often deep poverty. Zambia faces significant vulnerabilities in the context of droughts, floods, debt defaulting and Covid-19, and we have identified a nexus of disturbingly low rural resilience from environmentally threatened farming and fishing; significant urban impoverishment; and a bundle of social issues having a real impact on poverty dynamics. Forthcoming publications include qualitative and quantitative analyses, a futures analysis, a political economy report, and a national report and policy brief.
